You have your new electric vehicle (or you are planning to buy soon)…hurray! You’re part of the EV revolution! So now what? There’s so much information out there about EV charging, where does the EV owner (or soon-to-be) even start? Recently CleanTechnica’s EV expert Jo Borras sat down with EV world pros to go over EV charging 101.
Last month Jo chatted with Ben Shapiro of RMI, Tom Bowen of Qmerit, and Julien Blancher from FLO. They discussed the ins and outs of EV charging both at home and on the go. If you’re a new or soon-to-be EV owner, you’ll find some super helpful info you may need regarding where and how to charge, electricity costs, charging etiquette, and options for home charging.
What about mobile apps? Smart features? Electrical capacity for home chargers? We know it’s a lot to think about, so take a listen to the webinar below, as Jo and our panelists go through the basics of EV charging, both at home and on the go.
When Jo asked the panelists about pros and cons of having a dedicated wall charger at home, Julien responded that “level 2 chargers offer piece of mind when it comes to charging because it goes faster and it is more flexible,” though each driver will be different in terms of their length of commute and if their EV battery can be replenished with overnight charging. When the topic of smart chargers was broached, Jo mentioned there’s a “cost savings there…smart chargers can help figure out when the least expensive time to charge is.”
We also had lots of great questions from our audience – thanks to those who participated in this critical discussion. If you have any follow-up questions for our panelists, please email accounts@cleantechnica.com.
