Chile is encountering a growing number of sulfur-based ore layers containing toxic arsenic in its copper mines.

The firm’s coal division generated earnings of $8.9 billion in the first six months of the year as prices for the fossil fuel have soared.

The company is working with the University of Nevada and the Great Basin College in Elko to develop mining-centred programs.

The Sugar Zone underground mine has been in production since 2019 and is one of Ontario’s most recent and highest grade gold mines.

In Canada last year, coal exploration attracted more spending than diamond exploration.

Almost a third of China’s steel mills could go into bankruptcy in a squeeze that’s likely to last five years, said the chairman of Hebei Jingye Steel Group.

The PEA outlines primarily an underground block cave mining operation supplemented with a small open pit, and is planned to operate for 39 years with a peak mill feed production of 170,000 t/d.

Chief executive Shaun Day said the London-listed company was reviewing the opportunity to “get the best of both worlds.”

“This discovery will influence our understanding of the tectonic models and how the eastern coast of Australia formed.”

The miner is preparing for two rounds of layoffs to take effect on Sept. 25 and Oct. 11, if it doesn’t obtain a permit to continue extracting 6 million tonnes of iron ore a year.

About 700 tonnes of gold-bearing material has been recovered.
